This winter, EPN is delighted to have made valuable progress in our local projects. Joined by new directors Shatyra and Billy, our new initiatives took off to a great start, and it excites me to witness the potential of our new team unfold.
Here are some updates on what EPN’s been up to in the past few months.
Welcome Billy!
Billy Lim joined us in November as our new Director of Administration. He is a recent graduate of Concordia University, and has done a lot of great volunteer work related to poverty alleviation in the past. We’re grateful that Billy is continuing his contributions to social causes with End Poverty Now!
Youth to Youth Initiative
Our very first Educational Initiative took place this month at the Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre. The event focused on the social importance of community centres that offer programs for youth from low-income communities. A big thanks goes out to our 10th grade volunteers from Lower Canada College, Eleni, Jenna, and Nora, and to our new head office volunteer Anthony Ecclissi for capturing our discussion on film. And kudos to Shatyra and Billy for making their first EPN project a fun and productive one! Stay tuned for more on this project in the new year!

EPN Chapter Fundraisers
Our McGill University Chapter held their ever so beloved “Get Lucky – Annual Dating Auction” event in November, which drew a good rowdy crowd and helped raise funds and awareness towards our projects (event pictures here). During exam time, they gave out Starbucks coffee in the library for donations while selling goats milk soaps and penguin ornaments. Thanks to everyone who attended!
McGill Chapter Fundraiser
Our Queen’s University Chapter hosted a breakfast-themed bake sale, with goodies like croissants, muffins, and pumpkin loaf, as well as a “Smoker” social gathering at a bar for Queen’s law students that helped raise funds for EPN. They also hosted the popular “Examagram” fundraiser, where students were able to order small holiday-inspired bags of treats with personalized notes for their friends, which the EPN Queen’s chapter members delivered to the recipients’ classes. Thank you to everyone who showed their support!
